  BOWLS
One of the most enduring impressions from my childhood is the daily use we made of our inherited Meissen "Onion" pattern porcelain. It was the magical cobalt-blue tones that first generated my lasting interest in "blue painting", that is also traditional e.g. in China and Holland, and not the gradual destruction of the service.
My interest even then centered on drawing and my subject has always been people. Thus drawings of the human figure remain a central element of my work. For thousands of years, pottery has been intimately connected with our daily lives and such illustrations have been a feature of ceramics throughout history. Technically speaking, however, my work simply connects the blue-radiating cobalt oxide with the Meissen porcelain.
